Sausalito Library offers several online resources for research, education, and entertainment.  If you are a Marin County resident, all of these can be accessed for free using your MARINet library card and password (with the exception of Sausalito residents only subscriptions to Kanopy and  If you have trouble logging in, please contact the Library reference desk at 415-289-4121 or

E-Books and E-Audiobooks

The MARINet OverDrive Collection consists of over 10,000 downloadable electronic books and audiobooks, including recent titles from major publishers. Visit OverDrive's Getting Started page to learn about accessing the collection with your mobile device via the Libby app. Learn how to return e-books early with this handy guide courtesy of the MARINet Digital Resources Working Group.

Enki is a collection of downloadable e-books in the EPUB format. Enki was created by California libraries as an alternative to commercial services like 3M and Overdrive.  The large collection is currently dominated by ebooks from small and independent publishers. 


Hoopla Digital is a collection of streaming and downloadable movies, TV shows, audiobooks, music albums, comics, and e-books. Hoopla is made possible through a grant from the Friends of the Sausalito Library.

Kanopy offers on-demand streaming of award-winning video collections fromThe Criterion Collection, The Great Courses, Media Education Foundation and more.  For Sausalito residents only. Kanopy is made possible through a grant from the Friends of the Sausalito Library.

Magazines & Newspapers

New York Times offers 24-hour passes for full, online access to this popular newspaper when you sign up for an account using your email address.

RBDigital (formerly Zinio) is the world's largest newsstand, offers full color, interactive digital magazines for your enjoyment.

Sausalito News. Thanks to generous grants from the Sausalito Library Foundation and the Sausalito Historical Society, the Sausalito Public Library is able to provide digital access to scanned issues of the Sausalito News from February 1885 through December 1966.

Sausalito Marin Scope Digital Archives (in-library use).  A new digital archive of the Sausalito Marin Scope covering the years 1971 to 2015 is now available free of charge on the public internet stations at the Sausalito Library during open hours.

Museum Passes

Discover & Go is a special service that provides free and discount museum passes to library patrons. Passes can be reserved and printed online via the Discover & Go website. Museums include the Exploratorium, the Asian Art Museum, the Bay Area Discovery Museum, the Lawrence Hall of Science, the Oakland Museum of California, and many more.


Archives Unbound is a unique historical collections database that includes primary source materials covering a vast array of subject areas.  Courtesy of the California State Library, this is a free resource for all public libraries.  Note: To view the archives, you will need to have Adobe Flash Player installed and not blocked.  To explore additional research databases using your MARINet library card and password, click here.

Technology & Language Learning

Safari Tech Books Online is a shared collection of ebooks on computer topics from Safari Tech Books Online, including titles published by O'Reilly Press.  

Mango Languages is an online, interactive language learning tool for adults, featuring over 40 foreign languages for English speakers and more than 15 English language courses for non-English speakers.


Ancestry (in-library use)  Discover your family history and start your family tree. Access billions of online genealogy records including Census, SSDI & Military records from this popular site.
