Documentary Screening: Looking For My Anchor and Q&A with Local Filmmaker Erica Jordan
Date: Friday, November 14
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Inside the Sausalito Public Library (420 Litho Street)
The Sausalito Public Library will host a screening of documentary Looking For My Anchor and Q&A with local filmmaker Erica Jordan. Directed and edited by Jordan, Looking For My Anchor follows Jordan’s quest for mooring as she turns the lens on herself, grappling with grief from the loss of her mother, home, a long-term relationship, and her son’s departure for college. The story unfolds aboard her small boat Galilee Harbor, in a low-income community of artists and maritime workers in Sausalito.
Scenes from video journals and home movies flashback to raw and unfiltered experiences of Jordan's life as a single mother. Woven into Jordan's narrative are the stories of three people who face their own challenges while anchored out on the San Francisco Bay. Read this interview with Jordan in Marin Independent Journal. Read more about Erica Jordan and watch a trailer of the film on Jordan's website.
This event is free and open to the public. The library also recently installed a new AV system, funded by our generous Friends of the Sausalito Public Library! This is the debut of our state of the art project and speakers! The library can get chilly at night, so dress accordingly. Registration is recommended as it helps Library staff prepare for the event.
