Post Date:03/20/2020 7:15 PM

Although City Hall is closed to the public, City staff is working hard to maintain essential services and provide minimum basic operations during the public health order to shelter at home. Below is an overview of continuing City services by department, with the exception of the Sausalito Police Department and Southern Marin Fire, which continue to offer police, fire and paramedic services uninterrupted. For the most up-to-date list of City services, please consult the COVID-19 page on our website.
  • Administration. City Administration continues to operate at full capacity, with most public interaction conducted by telephone or email. Administration is coordinating daily with county and state officials in an effort to help assist the City and our community maintain compliance with county and state orders. Essential meetings for City business, like those of the City Council and Planning Commission, will be moved to an online platform that supports public comment. Social distancing measures are in place for all City staff.

  • Community Development. Building and planning permits currently in the pipeline at the Community Development Department will continue to be processed. The processing of new building and planning permit applications and the issuance of building and planning permits will be on a priority basis. All submittals will be conducted either via email or through E-TRAKiT

Building inspections will continue, as staffing allows. Inspections will be virtual if possible. Inspections that require an in-person inspection will be performed with new health and safety protocols in place.

For more details, please consult COVID-19 Prioritization and Protocols for the Community Development Department.

  • Public Works. The Public Works Department will continue to provide maintenance of City roads, sewers, and other City facilities. The department will also be assisting with the cleaning of public facilities. Construction projects related to roads, parks, and utilities will continue.

The Engineering Division is providing all regular services, with the exception that land development and encroachment permit services will be managed electronically. Patrons can submit digital versions of permit applications and plans to the City for review. Any questions can be directed to (415) 289-4106 during business hours.

  • Parks and Recreation. All outdoor recreation facilities maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department remain open, including parks, playgrounds, and ball courts. Signage is being placed at ball courts and playgrounds advising users to practice social distancing. Custodial staff will be cleaning public restrooms at parks and other locations multiple times per day. Trash will continue to be collected at City parks.

  • Library. The Sausalito Library is encouraging library patrons to take advantage of its digital collections of e-books, e-audiobooks, and streaming video during the closure. Patrons should hold onto any library books or other materials currently in their possession. All due dates on library materials have been extended, and overdue fines are being waived.
