Herb Weiner Award Presented to Abbot Chambers

Post Date:01/17/2020 3:50 PM

At the City of Sausalito holiday party on December 13, City Librarian and Director of Communications Abbot Chambers was presented with the City's new Herb Weiner "Get the Job Done" Award for his efforts to turn the library and City Hall into a charging station and hospitality center during a three-day Public Safety Power Shutoff in October 2019.

The new award was created by City Manager Adam Politzer in honor of former Mayor Herb Weiner, who passed away in July 2019. Herb was renowned for his ability to jump in when something needed to be done to improve the quality of life in Sausalito, from organizing trash cleanups in City parks to managing tour bus congestion in the downtown area.

In addition to the award recipient, three other finalists for the award were recognized at the City holiday party. Landscape Worker Oscar Lucario was nominated for the improvements he's made to Langendorf Park in the Spring Street neighborhood. Parks and Recreation Director Mike Langford was nominated for his work to make the memorial celebration for Herb Weiner a success on a weekend that also included the annual Chili Cook-off. Senior Civil Engineer Andrew Davidson was nominated for his oversight of the cleanup project at the site of the February 2019 mudflow.
